Today it is difficult to imagine that it was possible to watch an image not on the screen of the usual kinescope, but on a rotating metal disk with holes through which the light fell on the photoelectric cell installed opposite, which turned it into electrical signals. The decomposition of the image was due to the rotation of the disk. The rapid rotation of the disk allowed the viewer to see the whole picture.
As technology advances, many areas of human activity and creativity become a thing of the past and are forgotten. The popularity of new media often causes the gradual dying out of old media – only to have the cycle repeat itself a few (dozens) years later.
For many years, radio dramas were an important domestic cultural pastime. It can be hard to imagine how residents of entire streets gathered around one or two televisions, but before the advent of television, the centerpiece of the living room was the radio. Radio quickly began to be used for more than just news: first it was taken over by advertising, and then by culture and education.
